✨ Celebrate the Winter Solstice with Light, Art, and Community ✨
Light the Night AVL is Asheville’s Winter Solstice lantern walk — a joyful community celebration rooted in the spirit of our city: art and creativity, the beauty of nature, and the strength of our community. As the sun sets, the community comes together with handmade lanterns to illuminate the River Arts District and the banks of the French Broad River.

Joining the celebration, the Street Creature Puppet Collective returns with their larger-than-life puppets, adding to the magic and wonder of the night! After the parade, the festivities continue with live music, warm food and drink, and plenty of merriment!
Born last year in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Light the Night was created as a way to bring hope and healing to Asheville. Each lantern carries a message of hope and resilience, transforming the night into a glowing river of light and creativity.
Come walk with us, bring a lantern, and be part of this radiant celebration of community, creativity, and the cycles of nature!
